C.S.MIDDLEMISS

b.n.a.,d.1945: Joined GSI 1883; left 1917: officiated during Holland’s absence March-June 1895 Known for his discovery of  the Tal Series in the Himalayas, including its fossils : FASB : ISC (Pr., Geol.) 1917 

H.H.HAYDEN

b.1869,d.1923: Joined GSI 1895; Director 1910: With the College 1897-98, 1904-06 : Studied geology of the Himalayas & Tibet and other parts of India, Burma and  Afghanistan: President ASB, MGII; organized ISC; ISC (Pr., Geol.) 1914: FRS 1915 Died from a climbing accident in the Swiss Alps.

 

P.N.DATTA

b.1858, d.1944: Educated in England :Joined GSI 1888;  retd.1913 : With the College   1898-99: Discovered Devonian and Mesozoic beds of Northern Shan States, Burma  and manganese ore deposits of Chhindwara and Bhandara in CP ( now MP and  Maharastra) in 1893-94: President (inaugural) GMMSI 1924.
